Nov 15 I pay $12 for FFXIV. Why pay $15 for Classic? I copied this from a reply I made with slight edits, but I feel this should be brought up in a post. I'm mostly a FFXIV player nowadays. I used to play classic a lot and have only played modern WoW on and off because friends kept bugging me to come back... and then we would all quit a month or so in. I currently pay $12 for FFXIV because they have an option to pay 12 for having only 1 character per server. Paying $15 dollars for an old game that was already released is just too much. I don't like modern WoW at all. I don't like the changes they are making to 'their classic'. If I have to pay $15 dollars for a game I won't play and a modern Blizzard's take on classic WoW, then I'm not going to pay anything and go on private servers. I don't like private servers either because the people running it are often corrupt and you never know when the servers will be shut down, but I am also not willing to shell out $15 for something that isn't worth it. If I can pay $12 to play FFXIV which is a modern mmo that receives constant updates, I shouldn't have to pay $15 to play an old MMO that's already been released and is getting unnecessary changes.Destroynme111 Nov 15

HOWEVER, I did find out that there was an exploit to get around it (one of those rare exploits where you would WANT a bit of lag). Basically if you spammed “X” to sit/stand/sit/stand, then if a mob hit you while you were sitting and right as you were standing up, then it would register as a crit, but on the server side you would be standing, thus allowing the ability to proc.
Step-by-step class guides are on the way!  The 1-12 Mulgore Guide is the first guide to get all the individual class steps.  At the top of the guide, simply select which class you are playing and the page will dynamically update all the steps in the guide for that class (both text and images).  The rest of the guides will be slowly updated overtime to include all the class steps, but you can see how it's going to work with the 1-12 Mulgore.  I want to thank crazyK and his Placeholderguild for helping me out with the individual class content.  They are allowing me to get the 1-60 Alliance guide done while also getting all the class steps done at the same time, so everything can be ready for Classic launch (hopefully).
I recreated my very first character -- a human warrior, because in the last-push alpha test I joined in 2004, there was no Horde -- and logged in. Immediately, I was surprised by how good the graphics actually looked, for being 15 year old textures-on-polygons. Warcraft's bright colors and cartoony aesthetic continue to this day, so all the increased resolution and better-contoured characters in Lordaeron don't really change the game's visual aesthetic.
Escort quests can take awhile to do.  I have thoroughly tested all the escort quests in the game for time/xp.  Most are worth doing, but as long as you are able to actually do them without failing.  Most require you to pay special attention to the escortee as most are fragile and will die easily, so do your best to keep mobs off of the escortee during escort quests.  The longest one in the game is the Tanaris chicken escort.  The chicken escorts are only worth doing if you were able to do all 3 of them, as if you do, you will be able to turn in an additional easy quick XP turn in quest at BB, which makes them worth it.

So we asked ourselves, would it still be possible to deliver an authentic classic experience if we took our modern code, with all its back-end improvements and changes, and used it to process the Patch 1.12 game data? While that might seem counterintuitive, this would inherently include classic systems like skill ranks, old quests and terrain, talents, and so on, while later features like Transmog and Achievements would effectively not exist because they were entirely absent from the data. After weeks of R&D, experimentation, and prototyping, we were confident we could deliver the classic WoW content and gameplay without sacrificing the literally millions of hours put in to back-end development over the past 13 years.

14 Nov Alternative to sharding? Both Tips out and Preach have suggested in videos a solution that may ensure a good launch experience, without the use of sharding. And i think they might be on to something! I tried to look it up on the forum to vote, but dint find any, so posting this. The idea is that Blizzard at launch can release multiple servers with the intent that at later stage merge them. e.g Sargeras 1 - _ Sargeras 2 - _ > Sargeras Sargeras 3 - I can see that sharding is practical, but it removes some immersion and might even be destructive to the community! Wait, /sit to trigger crits is p-server thing? I distinctly remember people saying that if you sit, you will be crit when I played 1.12 Vanilla. On top of that - there’s that pally that one shot Kazzak in early Vanilla because he stacked a shitload of reckoning when it didn’t have a limit - it’s not inconceivable that he did it without /sit to trigger crits, but it would take him so, SO long to do that without /sit.

14 Nov Slow or fast? Class? All of us have a dream or plan for Classic. I'm curious to know, how do you fellow forum members feel about the lvling experience in Classic? Do you want to speed lvl and get to end game as soon as possible or take your time? What class will you choose? The fastest lvler? The most self sufficient? The team specialist? Myself I'm so happy about feeling absolutely no need to rush and I look so much forward to slow laidback lvling, this time not a totally clueless virgin noob. I plan to be human, just like my very first char. Then rediscovering everything and also taking part of what I missed because I didn't start playing until mid TBC. Like the opening of AQ, such a glorious event! :D Hopefully Blizzard isn't patching too fast for me to take part. I'll be taking my time to read the quests and not use any questhelper. Stopping here and there to do some fishing. Inviting people to group up for questing whenever I can. I'm planning to be a mage, partly because of the social aspect. I'm sure I'll be asked for portals and food/water by randoms and that's perfectly fine, a chance to get to know many players and sort out leechers. Will they offer tip, ask if i need any help, trade me something they don't need etc or just take it and leave without even saying "thank you"? Maybe I'll take tailoring + some gathering profession, not decided yet. I want to do something that's useful not only to myself but to others, make some G on the process. As a mage I count on dying a lot... Doing dungeons the old way I really look forward to. Slow, no mindless silent killing squads in Vanilla. CC. Careful pulls. Group coordination necessary. No LFG or random kicks so people will rather stay until it's completed and we're doing it right, even if there are wipes. And finally, in some distant future, I'll hopefully get to raiding. By then hopefully with a full list of friendly players and in a good guild with like minded people. 40 man raids, so amazing! Correct me if I'm wrong, but mages would be needed in MC because of decurse and strong aoe, so there would be a spot for me. 15 Nov Any Alliance PvE guilds planned/remember me? Hello, I've seen a few posts about Horde PvP realm guilds and the odd Alliance PvP one. Are there any groups planning to form a guild on the Alliance side of a PvE realm? I am eager to make new connections and, whilst unlikely, possibly reconnect with people who I might have lost touch with accidentally over the fourteen or so years almost since I started my journey. Whilst only 33, I have the memory of an 116 year old so please forgive any inaccurately recalled information. I started my WoW journey in 2004 about a month after launch I believe it was, and I originally played on Nordrassil as Cernunnos, a Night Elf Hunter Herb/Alch. After a few weeks I found out that there was a sort of hidden community at work that loved WoW and I rerolled an identical character using the same name on Al'Akir to be with them. I remember playing in a raiding guild with Dizzybint and her husband for a long time. She had many alts using the 'Dizzy' theme and we spent a fair amount of time as a guild. When the guild sort of died after a while I started again on a new server. I didn't like PvP and had only picked Al'Akir to be with my work friends, and so I rerolled on Darkspear. My main was a female Night Elf Hunter called Amarynthia. I had a few alts, namely a female Night Elf Priest (Shadow) called Philyra, a Human Rogue called Kimil and a female Dwarf Paladin called Rhamnusia. I had a good friend on Darkspear, a male Dwarf Hunter called Astorr. He vanished one day, never came back and to this day I don't know if he's even ok. I spent the bulk of my time on Dramaspear and did a lot of hardcore raiding with my main and alts. At one point I was in Ez (which if memory serves was quite a big name back then) with Bishimon as leader and was always top 3 DPS with Amarynthia. For reasons I no longer remember, I ended up moving all of my high level characters to Saurfang with two friends I had met in the early days of Vanilla. I didn't spend long there and don't remember it at all. After a lot of people quit, I decided to reroll AGAIN when Cataclysm came out. I decided that since it was a 'new' or redesigned world, I'd experience it afresh from level 1. I rerolled as a female Human Paladin called Airmid who has been my main ever since Catacylsm. I transferred all of my high level characters who kept their names, apart from Kimil who became Erebes. After many years of struggling with her identity, Airmid took the difficult decision to undergo gender reassignment surgery earlier this year, becoming Mandanu (in truth for unknown reasons. So, are there any PvE Alliance guilds planned? I think I want to rediscover ever square millimetre of Azeroth at my own pace socially before getting into raiding again. 15 Nov US players on EU Hi everyone, I’m the leader of a gaming community on Discord and am based in the EU. Members of my community are US based and when classic lands we want to ensure we are all playing together on EU servers. I haven’t played retail for a while but have been informed that it’s now subscription only (no need to purchase expansions anymore, please correct me if I’m wrong) to play the most recent content. Can someone please tell me if we will encounter any issues with US players logging in to EU servers? They already have US accounts so it seems unrealistic to expect them to have to buy an EU copy to play classic on EU servers. Sorry if this isn’t making sense. Any info you can provide would be appreciated. Also - are there any channels in existence for recruitment purposes? (I plan in advance)Ashala10 15 Nov
Frequently, we are getting many questions from our customers, especially after Blizzard’s announcement about World of Warcraft Classic at BlizzCon 2017, how to farm gold in Vanilla World of Warcraft, currently on Light’s Hope Lighbringer, Elysium Nighthaven and Twinstar Kronos-WoW realms. So, we are glad to share our experience and some knowledge with you. It might be not a discovery for someone but it is good to brush things up we all know and summarize them in one place. We are looking forward to publish more related articles to help and save your time. This guide may help you not in just Vanilla WoW but in any other expansion you are playing.
Furthermore, we highly recommend you plan in advance regarding the class that you want to play. In the Classic WoW, there were no class specs. Every talent point spent couldn’t be changed without first resetting all of them and the talent point reset was a costly practice. If you already know what you want to play as in the end game – try to develop your talent tree accordingly. This way you’ll be able to save a lot of gold in advance.

Now that you know to loot everything (see tip #1), you’ll have a lot of items in your bags. Any item that is white quality or greater may sell on the Auction House. How do you know what will sell well on the auction house? Trade goods and green quality (or better) items will almost always sell on the Auction House. Travel Time is what you will be doing the most of, thus talents or abilities that increase movement speed will likely have the highest impact on leveling speed.The more important concept is this: Shaving off seconds of downtime between pulls is equally valuable to shaving off seconds of In Combat Time. When you think about it this way, Damage Mitigation and Regenerative talents / abilities / stats have almost offensive properties and should potentially be valued equally to stats that increase damage.

15 Nov question about hunter So i saw this leveling guide for hunter in classic and it seems like u need some kind of addon to track ur auto shot. So my question is how did auto shot work back then? did u have to stand still to be able to shoot auto shots? and did like using arcane shot reset the timer of auto shot wich means if u are 1 sec from an auto shot but uses arcane instead u get new 3 sec (or whatever the wep speed is) before an auto shot is fired? thanksCirluica29 15 Nov
Nov 15 Skeletons RIP Please allow skeletons of dead players to Rest In Peace. Witnessing the aftermath of a city / town raid and seeing a blanket of bones that told a story of how the battle went down, really helped add to the MMORPG feel. The original WoW was painful. Mobs took forever to die; one additional enemy in a fight was a pain, two probably meant death. There was a ton of running. Most buffs lasted two minutes, many took reagents, abilities were trained and often out of reach if you lacked the necessary gold. Warlocks had to farm shards, hunters had to carry ammo -- even my warrior did, since in vanilla WoW she can carry a bow and fire arrows herself.
In order to save up gold quickly, you must be mindful of your character’s professions. According to various sources, the most profitable profession back in the day used to be herbalism. Mining and skinning are right up there as well. Gathering-oriented professions have an advantage compared to the crafting ones in the early levels because gathering doesn’t require you to spend gold in order to make some coins. You can find plenty of herbs to collect, ores to mine and beasts to skin, all while you’re levelling. Everything you manage to gather can then be sold in the auction house fairly quickly.

Nov 15 Classic Box Cost Disappointed in the decision to bundle the subs and (at least for now) not have a separate Classic sub option. That said, can we at least get a separate box cost for access to classic? It would: - help alleviate temporary bloat and subsequent dead realms - servers would be more stable population-wise over time - remove the bulk of the need for sharding - give a solid idea of how many servers will be needed - allow blizzard to set up a separate classic forum for those with a monetary commitment - with a separate forum group, feedback would be limited to those with a vested interest The subs would still be bundled, but there would be a box cost, akin to what one would have to pay for BFA access.
