5% was admittedly an exaggeration, just felt that low. I'd say it was probably closer to the 30-40% range. It was Artifacts of the Blacksilt, spent a good 10-15 minutes killing Blacksilt Seers to get two damn idols to drop. A quest that had me killing Elder Brown Bears for bear flanks also took quite a while, though that was less due to drop rate and more due to how spread out they were.

Zygor's Leveling and Loremaster guide is the ultimate tool for players who want to level up quickly and earn the coveted Loremaster achievement. This guide will lead you quest by quest through every zone, telling you exactly where you need to go, how to complete objectives, and everything else required to reach level 120 in the fastest time possible.


You’ll need things produced by many of these professions to optimize your character, but you only get two professions you can do yourself. Unless you want to grind on a second character to collect all the reputation-gated recipes for other professions, you will probably need to buy the stuff you can’t make for yourself on the auction house. And if the price of the stuff you need exceeds whatever your questing and your followers are bringing in, you might want to sell some of your own trade goods or raw materials in order to finance your purchases.

A: There’s no deposit, and the Auction House does not take a cut of the gold for WoW Token sales. The standard deposit is designed to dissuade players from spamming the auction house with items that aren’t selling, and the standard cut is designed to dissuade players from buying and reselling items for minuscule markups. These issues don’t apply to the WoW Token, so there’s no need for a deposit or cut.
Gathering nodes need to be fixed. Herbalism and mining give small amounts of experience as you level, mostly rewarding you for going out of your way to gather nodes. A change a while back makes them scale naturally with your skill level, so that you can mine or herb anything, anywhere, just getting varying amounts of usable fragments or whole items depending on your skill.
First up we have patch 7.3.5, which was implemented several months ago as a major shakeup to how leveling was approached. Instead of going from low to high level zones like the way the game had always operated, Blizzard opened up the map with more of a Guild Wars 2 type system -- you now have more of a choice of where to go with a scaling mechanic. But when combined with 8.0's massive stat overhaul, things got murky.
Instead, go to Timeless Isle and take the portal to Gorgrond. From there, fly to your respective faction starting zone(Frostfire Ridge or SMV), go to your garrison, and do the quests to unlock your garrison(A short quest chain beginning down near the water where you'd otherwise start after the Dark Portal scenario). For now DO NOT collect any more treasures than absolutely needed to buy 1 or 2 experience potions! Treasures continue to be worth superior exp/h all the way to level 107!!! You don't want to begin collecting them until lvl 100 or later.
Try to gather up all quests for a dungeon before trying to queue up for it. Preferably pick up dungeon quests as soon as they are available to avoid getting them when you are over leveled. Dungeons themselves reward a good amount of experience due to the grouping of mobs, but the quests on top of that reward great experience and decent questing gear.
This is also the reason why when I read in WoW forums of people skipping guide sections, due to being too low level I'm not agree and start ranting about it: it'll be a mess syncronizing with the guide and I've seen many people complaining about missing quests or accusing the guide for being innacurate, but not realizing that was their fault since they're skipping and missing a lot of quest chain requirement. Of course this apply if you're following a guide, believe me, it's very frustrating when you remain stuck in a guide section due to the reasons I've mentioned, more than doing grey quests (but they allow to be perfectly in sync with the guide) and goiing here and there to get the pre-requisite quests.
EXCEPTION: If you have Mining and only use Jewelcrafting to craft stone statues (for additional in-combat healing), then this may be a useful tradeskill. However, like Engineering above, it should not be a leveling focus and should only be used to assist with power leveling. Doing any more than this will become costly and should not be undertaken during the power-leveling process.
Third: Don’t skimp out on consumables. I recommend getting 20 flask, 20 Drums, 40 Runes/Food, and about 20 pots. If you are Horde I HIGHLY recommend about 40 Goblin Gliders, it will make your life so much easier. Consumables are pretty cheap right now (on my server at least) and I do recommend you stock up. Ask a friendly mage for some food before you start leveling so you don’t have to waste your buff food.
Step-by-step class guides are on the way!  The 1-12 Mulgore Guide is the first guide to get all the individual class steps.  At the top of the guide, simply select which class you are playing and the page will dynamically update all the steps in the guide for that class (both text and images).  The rest of the guides will be slowly updated overtime to include all the class steps, but you can see how it's going to work with the 1-12 Mulgore.  I want to thank crazyK and his Placeholderguild for helping me out with the individual class content.  They are allowing me to get the 1-60 Alliance guide done while also getting all the class steps done at the same time, so everything can be ready for Classic launch (hopefully).

After completing your island expedition and second foothold, head back out to your third and final zone to quest in. Note that any legendaries you were using to level have become inactive and are merely stat sticks now. Feel free to replace them with quest gear as you obtain it. Before heading out, feel free to send your three champions out on new missions!
Edit 20 It’s been a week since this post and a lot of people are still reaching out to me with questions which is fine. Many people have asked whether we recommend leveling as Enhancement or Elemental. There’s no definitive answer here; it depends entirely on your comfort, your gear options, and if you’re in a group or solo. Enhancement benefits more from Honor Talents in open world leveling, and Elemental has stronger AOE damage for mass pulling. Feel free to experiment with both specs.

Most of the time you spend leveling will involve questing and slaying monsters, but there’s also a lot of travel. Travel earns you little experience (you do gain a bit for discovering new areas), so it’s wise to keep travel to a minimum. The new level scaling system, which scales zones to your level within a preset range, helps with that. You can choose what zones you want to experience and stick with them until you finish their quests.

Then 8.0 came along and turned everything on its head. Most of the techniques and shortcuts discovered, after 7.3.5 introduced scaling, were nerfed into oblivion. Many of the old techniques were confirmed by myself, first hand, to no longer work. I'm hoping that this thread can serve a similar purpose as the old thread, and gather as much data as possible on the fastest methods under the new system, and facilitate as many different perspectives and opinions on speed leveling with constructive discussion.
Most BfA Alchemy recipes have 3 ranks. Rank 2 reduce the materials required to create a recipe, and Rank 3 have a chance to create multiple potions/flask etc. Higher rank recipes also give skill points much longer, so it will be a lot cheaper to level Alchemy if you first get Revered with the new BfA factions, because you can use cheaper recipes for longer.
He goes on to say that the changes went too far, and that they have "no desire" to keep moving in that direction. The problem is they don't know how to fix it quite yet. Hazzikostas understandably says that they don't want to make blanket changes that miss the "real source of the problem," which is exacerbated at levels 60-80 when the leveling curve gets particularly punishing. The sky isn't completely falling though based on data: Hazzikostas says that leveling is 15% longer. In the short term they want to increase experience gained at these levels to soften that blow.
As always, I will monitor and update this guide as new information comes in. If I've gotten anything glaringly and completely wrong, just tell me with as much data as possible. The idea is to find the fastest possible leveling method, NOT to argue about how good or bad individuals are. If you have hard data, post it! If you have an idea, let the thread know so we can test it!

When you have completed your third zone, you should be nearly max level, but you still have work to do! Head back to your faction hub and complete the last foothold quest to unlock your fourth mission table champion. After, you will want to do your newly available invasion missions for your faction. This quest chain is one that will be time gated by reputation levels earned with the 7th Legion for the Alliance and iThe Honorbound for the Horde. Complete as many quests as you can and then finish up your leveling with side quests you may have left in previous zones as necessary.

I found that in most cases, I could pick the zones I liked and skip everything else. It was slower, but I still wasn't forced to do quest zones I hated (and, notably, I skipped the entire Cataclysm expansion's content -- sorry, Thrall.) I did do dungeons, both in group finder and by two-boxing (more on that in a moment as well), but only once for the quests, and mostly to clear what felt like an awfully long slog from 40 to level 80.


Second: I have found that the most effective way to level (which comes as no surprise to many) has been using the leggos KJBW and Sephuz’s. KJBW allows you to complete nuke down packs of mobs no problem on a 75 second cd and since the damage doesn’t fall off you can clear 10+ mobs in seconds.Edit KJBW has been nerfed to do half the damage that it normally did. It is now a 3.2k Nuke on 75 second cd that doesn't fall off. Though it is sightly more balanced, that does make me sad. I still believe that it is probably the best leggo still to level with but I will do some more research to confirm. Sephuz’s is nice for the MS boost and the proc is no joke. I highly recommend these for every class.
Fish, meanwhile, were significantly devalued by the Underlight Angler, an artifact-quality Legion fishing pole that made fishing so productive that a very small number of fishermen could supply an entire server with materials for cooking. At current rates, fishing in Battle for Azeroth is more time-consuming, which means less food to go around, and higher prices at the auction house. Of course, Blizzard could change spawn rates in a future patch, but as of now, signs point to an economy in which common necessities will be much more scarce.
Usually it's best to avoid a lot of instance runs. It is too difficult to account for bad groups, and some instances are too far away with too few quests. Since the experience is very good, it's a good idea to clear nearby instances which have a lot of quests once (Gnomeregan, Deadmines for Alliance). Distant instances with few quests should be avoided (Deadmines for Horde). Low level instances can be cleared by paying or befriending a single high level character. However, since patch 3.3 a new Dungeon group finding system has been implemented, as well as a direct port to dungeons (when entering the group you get ported to the dungeon and back to the same location if you leave it) and thus the travel time to dungeons has been greatly reduced. This makes it a good idea to complete quests or grind while you wait for a group to become available.

The scaling tech was also a way to help us do that, and you can sort of choose your own path through expansions and story content.”
